Eating the opposite according to Ayurveda

If we understand there are qualities to the food we eat, the environment we are in, and our own personal constitution, we have the power to feel these qualities and learn how to balance them.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Ayurveda talks about eating the opposite to balance out the dominant quality. -- For example, Hot spicy food on a hot humid day will only increase how much we sweat and how hot we feel. Fire on Fire... So knowing this, we can use the spicy heat in certain foods to warm us up in the cold winter months.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In the post are some qualities that can be found in food, the seasons, our surroundings, and within our own constitution - I have coupled them with their opposite.

These qualities are known as Gunas in the Ayurvedic tradition.
