I thought it was time for me to share my 3 secrets to a PERFECT DAHL with you!!
1. Meet HING (Sanskrit) or ASAFOETIDA
This is your secret spice-weapon to a perfect Dahl. Using #asafoetida or #hing gives it an earthy and grounded flavour.

2. Spices and sweetness
Add Turmeric - Salt - Black Pepper - lots of Water & (here comes the secret) a little bit of Maple Syrup.

3. Bake not boil
I also recently started baking my dahl
-- which stops it from sticking to the bottom of the pot. I bake it until all the added water is gone. And then I either add a bit more water, give it a good stir and bake more OR If it's starting to dissolve already I'll squash it with a masher or puree it.
